Kiara and Darren tied the knot on the banks of the beautiful Hahn River, deep in the Kimberley. They did what I’d like to do every day if I could – flew in a helicopter, drunk champagne, kissed on top of a waterfall and laughed a lot.
Mount Elizabeth Station is a working cattle station located near the Gibb River Road, one of Australia’s most popular four-wheel-drive tourist routes. The Gibb River Road was originally built to transport cattle from the surrounding stations to Derby and Wyndham. Today it provides access to the stunning Kimberley and its diverse landscapes, ranging from lush, tropically vegetated river gorges and rainforests, to vast savannah woodlands and open plains.
The perfect location for a true Kimberley wedding!
Having your wedding at a remote cattle station involves a fair bit of planning and Kiara absolutely nailed it. The couple opted to charter a 12-seater Cessna aircraft to get their team of vendors out to their wedding venue so the day really kicked of in style for me! What would have been a 7 hour trip from Broome by 4WD only took 1.5 hours by plane. The morning was spent at the homestead where the couple got ready and afterwards everyone jumped into 4WD’s and took the rough dirt track all the way down to Warla Gorge. It was a true adventure! Not long after, the bride rocked up to the ceremony in a bright red helicopter and oh what an entrance it was. I had to pinch myself a few times to check that I wasn’t dreaming.
For the location shoot we flew to Wunumurra Gorge. Seriously, best day ever!
