From the first email I received from Natasha, I knew that documenting this wedding would be very special.
Natasha and Gary’s beautiful and relaxed beach wedding took place at Barred Creek, a place that is very close to their hearts. The couple decided to have their ceremony here in memory and honour of Gary’s sister, who passed away from cancer two years ago. Barred Creek was her favourite place.
The 45 minute drive from Broome landed us in spectacular dune country. Boasting uninterrupted ocean views, Natasha and Gary’s guests were spoilt by the beautiful natural surroundings of this stretch of coastline. Broome Vintage Wedding Hire did a smashing job in transporting the white arbour to its final destination (4WD required!) and thanks to the bride’s DIY efforts, it was beautifully decorated.
Although I had only met Natasha and Gary once before, I felt like I was a friend attending their wedding, not just their photographer. Their generosity was heart-felt when they insisted that I join them during the meal at their reception at The Mangrove Hotel. There’s something magical about having a destination wedding. All your family and friends take time out of their lives to travel, usually for a few days or more, to celebrate with you. I think it’s a really great excuse for a mini getaway and what better place to spend it than Broome?
For their portrait session the couple decided on Gantheaume Point, a stunning red cliff face overlooking the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.
