Jess & Jackson’s Relaxed and Remote Cygnet Bay Elopement
Some elopement days just feel right from the moment they begin and Jess and Jackson’s day at Cygnet Bay was exactly that. Relaxed, intimate, and surrounded by some of the most breathtaking coastline in the Kimberley. I was very excited when they asked me to be their photographer!
Cygnet Bay is one of those places that feels wonderfully removed from the rest of the world. Perched on the edge of the Dampier Peninsula, it’s about 200km north of Broome, roughly a 2.5 hour drive. These days the road is mostly sealed, making it accessible by 2WD. You can also arrive by small aircraft or helicopter, which is a pretty unforgettable way to start your wedding day if you’re up for something extra special.
At Cygnet Bay, you can choose between two accommodation options – staying onsite at the pearl farm or opting for more secluded, bush-style accommodation nearby (4WD only), depending on how remote you’d like your elopement experience to feel.
You’ve got ancient red pindan cliffs, turquoise water stretching out forever, and a sense of total calm that settles in as soon as you arrive. It’s remote without feeling isolating – perfect for couples who want privacy, but still want things to feel effortless.
Jess and Jackson chose to keep their elopement beautifully simple. No guests, no strict timeline – just the two of them, plus their celebrant Emma Young, who brought along a friend to be the second legal witness (with me as the other). The light out there is something else: soft, warm, and constantly changing as the tides move in and out. It’s the kind of place where you don’t need to overthink locations; every direction you turn feels cinematic.
For elopements out this way, I charge a flat $350 travel fee from Broome, keeping things simple and transparent. Get in touch and let’s start planning your Cygnet Bay elopement wedding!
