Sarah and Tom ditched tradition at Broome Weddings & Events

The rugged expanse of red dirt and crystal clear water at Broome’s Riddell Beach provided a striking backdrop as Sarah approached Tom who, facing the other way, waited in anticipation of seeing his bride for the very first time. Having a ‘first look’ allows you to share an intimate and emotional moment in private before the ceremony and provides a space for genuine expressions of love, excitement, and nerves without the presence of a larger audience, creating a more personal and authentic experience. On top of that it allows for more time for photos, which is always great.
From Reddell Beach it was only a short drive to their wedding venue, Broome Weddings & Events. The couple rocked into their ceremony to a Paul Kelly song, with their wedding crew, guests and celebrant waiting to welcome them down on the beach. It was a collaborative affair – Yawuru Traditional Owner Dianne Appleby welcomed everyone to Country after a smoking ceremony, one of Tom and Sarah’s friends shared their love story, another did the Asking and Kelly Morrow, their amazing celebrant, did the rest and got this fine pair officially married in front of their 65 guests.
Set against the backdrop of Simpson Beach, the ceremony was a testament to their unique and free-spirited bond, with Sarah wearing a custom mini dress by Honeymoon Studios and Tom rocking Birkenstocks and Luca Faloni pants and shirt.
This wedding was a celebration of love that defied tradition and embraced the unconventional and I loved every little bit about it! The wedding crew (or wedding party if you prefer) didn’t conform to the standard same sex, same side ‘rule’ during the ceremony, nor did they wear matching outfits. The paperwork was signed after the ceremony but not before the champagne. A good reminder that there are no rules and you can do what the heck you want!
